Thomas has decided that we must sweeten the deal in order to be successful: he wants cash involved. We have made a money jar. If someone eats sugar, they have to put a dollar in the jar. Whoever has put in the least money on the 10th day will win the jar of money.
We had to negotiate about the spoonful of sugar that I will put in my coffee each morning. Thomas feels its unfair that I do that without paying but that he cannot put chocolate syrup on his spaghetti free of charge. So we agreed that I would pay a quarter for each spoonful. We're starting with a dollar just for good measure.
